Have you been there yet? "Wow!" is the best word to describe their facilities.
The R/Car Association is a non-profit group that has put together not only a phenomenal outdoor track, but a really nice indoor track as well. They have
lots of different classe that are run, a well lit pit area, fantastic concessions
and an on-site hobby shop! How cool is that! Spend some time on their website, but better get, get in your car and go to R/Car!
Hobbytown USA in Castleton is holding seasonal R/C races again! They have a brand new store location (next to Dave & Busters) and a perfect large parking lot area out front for racing. This is on-road racing featuring many classes and options for drivers. Click the flyer to the right for more information or call them at 317.845.4106. Call for current schedule. Flyer shown was Summer 2009.
Indy Slots is now INDY RC! WOW! They have remodeled inside and doubled the size of their indoor track! The outdoor track has been greatly improved too. Click logo above to visit the new INDY RC website! INDY RC also has a very nice 2ND floor hobby shop with lots of merchandise to explore and a very friendly staff. You will have fun at INDY RC! Many fun classes of radio control racing to try!
If you live anywhere near the northern side of Indiana, one of the best off-road dirt tracks out there is Granger Offroad Remote Control Raceway! Off-road R/C is probably the biggest growing segment of model hobbies. Find out why at Granger Raceway!
If you are looking for one of the nicest groomed tracks in the area with great people to help you and to enjoy racing with, head to Griffith, Indiana to Raceworld Raceway! They run Summer and Winter and offer many different classes. They also run indoor nitro! See schedule! Sign up for their newsletter on their website, they promise not to sell or give away your email address!
Sadly, HCRC is not going to happen for awhile. Apparently, the management of the county fairgrounds feels that the building HCRC was using is better suited for RV and boat storage! Taxpayers will tell you that the fairgrounds were built for ACTIVITES, not boat storage! A poor decision was made for sure. Hopefully, HCRC will find a new home in the future according to the owners.
What a cool part of the hobby! And, this is a fun bunch of enthusiasts who are growing each year. They have events in Brownsburg, and other areas. Check out their website and spend some time learning about this part of the hobby! Here's a link to the national organization for Rock Crawling: www.usrcca.com
Indoor Dirt Track this winter!! Located at near Emerson and I-70, the JCP guys have worked hard to bring you an new, huge indoor facility! Get your GPS out and set it to 2459 N Butler Ave Indianapolis, IN 46218. Follow this forum on Hobbytalk for the latest information (click red text above).
This is a really cool track / hobby shop up in Lafayette. They have a indoor dirt oval and run all kinds of classes. We went one night in the winter and it was standing room only! The clay track is not that large, but there was plenty of action. Get there early if you want a good pit for your stuff.
This is supposed to be a great track! Its a 90 mile drive from downtown
Indy, but well worth it. Check 'em out! (Thanks for the tip Darrell!) This
looks to be a great location to do about anything in model car hobbies.
Yep, a bit of a drive from Indy, but they have a great track and a good reputation for doing what makes R/C enthusiasts happy. Check them out when you get a chance. They host some large races.
This is a really nice indoor track located near Evansville, Indiana. They race on Friday nights according to their website. They say that they are "Southern Indiana's only indoor Nitro and Electric off-road track." Looks like a great place to go race! Indoor comfort, concessions and hobby shop...nice!
I've not been there, but I'm told this is well worth the drive and one of the best tracks in the region. 3 tracks, a hobby shop and tons of R/C racing fun!
If you want to run BIG, these are the guys you need to get with! There are some great photos on this site and enought quarter scale racers to put together some intense action! Their track is "Ingalls Motor Speedway" in Ingalls, Indiana.
I've not been to this track, but it looks like a good option. Summit R/C Raceway offers a nice indoor carpet course. On Friday nights they run a road course and Saturday afternoons they run an oval track. They also have a outdoor dirt track along with a rock crawler course! Summit has a slot car track too. Dale is the guy that runs the track. You'll find Nick's Hobby Shop on site for parts and supplies for repairs. Summit is an easy going, friendly track I'm told with many racers ready to give you a hand.
OK, so this is a three hour drive from Indy. But, I grew up in Peoria and this is one heck of a cool track! Might be worth the drive sometime guys! Click on the video link to see this incredible track!
Here's a link to ROAR. ROAR (Remotely Operated Auto Racers) is the National non-profit corporation organized to promote the sport of radio controlled model car racing. ROAR was originally organized in 1967, and has steadily grown and evolved as the sport has grown.
This is where I've found many Indiana R/C car enthusiasts go to find out about Indiana Tracks, Events and just general discussion. You will probably be able to find out the latest info on R/C cars here!
Columbus is about a three hour drive from Indy, but CRCRC appears to put on some outstanding racing! Monster trucks on Fridays, Nitro on Saturdays and Electric on Sundays.
